PROLOC is a three year research project funded by VINNOVA within the programme Production Strategies and Models for Product Realisation. The project is a joint project between Mälardalen University and Lund University (LU). It deals with production location and the manufacturing footprint of globally present manufacturing companies.
A manufacturing strategy for tomorrow’s successful industry has to consider an entire new set of aspects influencing the design of the manufacturing footprint. This research project will create a decision support model for efficient localisation by integrating aspects from the production system portfolio, the product portfolio life cycle and manufacturing performance into a combined valuation in economic terms. Partners in the 3-year project are LU, MDH, Haldex, Alfa Laval, Seco Tools and Volvo CE.
