Produktiv Laserspriralsvetsning

Alvenius is the main initiator of PULS project, which is high-quality quick-connecting steel pipe system manufacturer. Currently, the pipes are produced by applying submerged-arc welding process. The manufacturer intends to implement spiral laser welding process for pipe manufacturing.

Mälardalen University as a member in this project is responsible for conducting pre-study phase. In order to qualify the new process, the goals are to investigate PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) and EU standards' requirements for pipe spiral laser welding. To set the requirements for manufacturer and to identify how the inspection and testing might change by implementing the new welding process. Furthermore, to investigate what is analysed in the scientific research area concerning laser welding of high strength and stainless steels and what effect welding speed would have on welding qualities.
